The 2024 South Australian Mine Emergency Response Competition will be held in the town of Roxby Downs and Olympic Dam Mine, South Australia, 18 to 20 October 2024. This competition is proudly run by a dedicated team of volunteers from the South Australian Mines Emergency Response Competition Association. Please ensure you adhere to all the WHS management processes that SAMERC & BHP will have in place for the running of the 2024 competition.

This competition is aimed at providing a practical training experience in Mine Rescue Operations. The competition will cover several exercises, these are an indication of types of scenarios:

  • Theory
  • First Aid
  • Fire Fighting
  • Vertical Rescue
  • Hazmat
  • Team Skills
  • BA Search and Rescue
  • Industrial Rescue
  • Road Crash Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Underground or Surface Rescue

The overall competition winner will be presented with the SAMERC Perpetual Trophy, with trophies also awarded to the winners of each of the exercises as well as Best Team Captain and a SAMERC Chairman's Award (awarded to the team that best demonstrates the values of the SAMERC competition) .


VENUE: Roxby Downs & Olympic Dam Mine, South Australia
DATE: 18 to 20 October 2024
ITINERARY: Events will run from Friday afternoon, and 6.00am to 6.00pm Saturday/Sunday.
The Presentation Dinner will be held in Roxby Downs on the Sunday evening, commencing at 6:00pm
A detailed itinerary and waiver will be provided to each participant prior to the event.
