The 2021 South Australian Mine Emergency Response Competition will be held at the Angus Zinc Mine on 26-28th March 2021. This competition is proudly run by a dedicated team of volunteers from the South Australian Mines Emergency Response Competition Association. Please ensure you adhere to all COVID management processes that SAMERC will have in place for the running of the 2021 competitions. If you are unwell please ensure you do not attend the competitions.

This competition is aimed at providing a practical training experience in Mine Rescue Operations. The competition will cover several exercises, these are an indication of types of scenarios:

1. Theory
2. First Aid
3. Fire Fighting
4. Rope Rescue
5. Team Skills
6. Breathing Apparatus Search and Rescue
7. Industrial Rescue
8. Road Crash Rescue

The overall competition winners will be presented with the SAMERC Mines Rescue Competition Perpetual
Trophy, with trophies also awarded to the winners of each of the exercises as well as Best Team Captain and a SAMERC Chairman's Award (awarded to the team that best demonstrates the values of the SAMERC competition) .

VENUE: Angus Zinc Mine Site (Strathalbyn), South Australia
DATE: Friday 26th March to Sunday 28th March 2021
ITINERARY: Events will run from late afternoon on Friday (theory test & team briefing with BBQ), and 6.00am to 6.00pm Saturday/Sunday.
The Presentation Dinner will be held at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre on the Sunday evening, commencing at 7:00pm.
A detailed itinerary and waiver will be provided to each participant prior to the event.
ACCOMMODATION: There is limited accommodation in Strathalbyn, it is recommended that you
stay around the Hahndorf region, close to the presentation dinner. Accommodation is available at the Hahndorf Resort but is limited.
