The SA Mines Emergency Response Competition showcased vital life-saving rescue skills, with BHP Carrapateena emerging as the overall winners.
Emergency services personnel from the mining industry in South Australia and New South Wales were put to the test in realistic emergency scenarios at the SA Mines Emergency Response Competition held in Whyalla City, South Australia, during the weekend of October 13-15, 2023.
This exciting event attracted a crowd of over 5,000 attendees over two action-packed days. Spectators gathered at the foreshore, marina, jetty, and CFS yard to witness seven teams competing from mines, including Olympic Dam Mine, Kanmantoo Copper Mine, Jacinth-Ambrosia Mine, Cadia Valley, Carrapateena, Prominent Hill, and SIMEC Whyalla. Furthermore, more than 50 volunteers played pivotal roles as adjudicators and simulated casualties.
